ABOUT
My work straddles portraiture and what I refer to as ‘dreamscapes.’ I work almost exclusively in oil paint as I believe it creates the most visceral impact. I am interested in what exists at the edges of reality- including mythology, the sacred and the occult.
My work aims to draw on the limitless capacity of other living things in nature (botanical, animal, human) to evoke a sense of enchantment. My work aims to collaborate in a kind of internal free association to evoke stories and construct narratives around the ‘sacred.’
I live deep in the countryside, just on the borders of civilisation-I see magic in a lot of my everyday surroundings. For me this ‘magic’ and ‘inspiration’ are one and the same. Good art, as I see it, is a contagion- it ignites creativity in those who interact with it. I aim to infuse my work with a sense of mythology and enchantment as a means of passing on this inspiration.
